Stimmhorn is one of Switzerland's truly imaginative bands. Combining natural sounds, man-made instruments, and overtone singing, the group's concerts, in churches and standardised acoustically intentional spaces, experience been described as "technoparty or privy religious ritual." Formed in 1995, Stimmhorn represents the combined vision of multi-instrumentalist and singer Christian Zehnder, world Health Organization combines Mongolian partial singing and yodeling, and brass and woodwinds player Balthaser Streiff. A professional musician since 1985, Zehnder (born in 1961) studied music with Raymond Laback and Japanese philosophy with Tokne Nomaka. Alphorn, Buechel, trumpet, and cognate role player, Streiff (born in 1963) is a graduate of the jazz school in Luzern. In addition to playacting with Stimmhorn, he continues to teach trumpet and Alphorn.
